Empowering Birth Through Knowledge
Birthing Luz was founded by Andrea Carrasco, RN, ICCE, an experienced labor and delivery nurse, certified childbirth educator, mother, and passionate advocate for evidence-based, physiologic birth.
The name Birthing Luz was inspired by the Spanish phrase dando a luz—"giving birth," which literally translates to "giving light." Every birth welcomes new light into the world, and every family deserves to begin that journey feeling informed, supported, and confident.
Andrea created Birthing Luz to bridge the gap between medical knowledge and practical preparation. After caring for hundreds of laboring families in the hospital, she saw firsthand that education can transform the birth experience. Understanding how labor works, what options are available, and how to navigate the hospital setting allows families to approach birth with greater confidence and peace of mind.
As both a labor and delivery nurse and childbirth educator, Andrea offers a unique perspective that combines clinical expertise with compassionate, personalized teaching. She specializes in physiologic birth and helping families understand how to support the natural process of labor while also preparing for the realities of giving birth in today's healthcare system. Her goal is never to promote one "right" way to give birth, but to equip families with evidence-based knowledge so they can make informed decisions that align with their values and circumstances.
Andrea is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, allowing her to educate and support families from diverse backgrounds.
Whether you're planning an unmedicated birth, considering pain management options, or simply want to feel more prepared for one of life's biggest transitions, Birthing Luz is here to help you approach birth with clarity, confidence, and light.
